As chaos continues to plague the U.S.-Mexico border, Republicans are demanding action but Joe Biden and the Democrats don’t seem to care. To date, they have refused to help fix this very serious problem.
Because of this, the U.S. is letting in millions of people. Democrats not only don’t seem to have a problem with this, it now appears to be the de facto position of their party.
Yet in 2015, far-left socialist Bernie Sanders said that open borders was a rightwing ‘Koch brothers proposal.’
We’re not kidding.
The following is a clip from an interview nine years ago with Vox’s Ezra Klein when Sanders was running for president.
The subject of open borders was brought up to the senator (emphasis added).

Bernie Sanders: “Open borders? No, that’s a Koch brothers proposal.”
Ezra Klein: “Really?”
Bernie Sanders: Of course. That’s a right wing proposal which says essentially there is no United States …”
Ezra Klein: “But it would make …”
Bernie Sanders: “Excuse me …”
Ezra Klein: “It would make a lot of global poor richer, wouldn’t it?”
Bernie Sanders: “It would make everybody in America poorer, you’re doing away with the concept of a nation state and I don’t think there’s any country in the world which believes in that.”
Yes, THAT Bernie Sanders actually said that.
The interview continued.
Bernie Sanders: “If you believe in a nation state or in a country called the United States or UK or Denmark or any other country, you have an obligation in my view to do everything we can to help poor people.”
“What right wing people in this country would love is an open border policy,” Sanders added. “Bring in all kinds of people, work for 2 or $3 an hour, that would be great for them.”
“I don’t believe in that,” the senator added.

What Changed for Sanders?
Sen. Sanders actually had some good points about why unlimited immigration would be bad for the poor. He also made great comments about borders being important to the definition of what a nation is.
You don’t hear Sanders talking like this anymore.
Although he’s technically an independent, it seems he would rather be in good standing with the Democratic Party than to join Republicans in making these same salient points about the dangers of our essentially open border.
Bernie Sanders had large followings during his presidential elections because they believed he was a man of integrity, willing to buck the establishment.
But when it comes to illegal immigration, apparently not so much.
