SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department’s bomb squad responded to reports of a suspicious package at the front door of a fire station in Golden Hill Thursday morning.
A spokesperson from SDFD’s communications department told FOX 5 firefighters working at Department Station 11, located at 945 25th St. in San Diego, noticed the package around 4:45 a.m.
Out of an abundance of caution, SDFD said the shift commander, HAZMAT team and bomb squad were requested to the location. The crews working at Station 11 were placed out of service at that time.
During their investigation, 25th Street and Broadway Street were closed in the area.
SDFD told FOX 5 it was discovered that the box in question only had papers inside, which were taken in for testing.
Crews have since went back into service and the streets have reopened. No injuries were reported in relation to this incident.
