SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria will hold an update at the City Emergency Operations Center on the storms that hit the area the past two weeks.
During Thursday’s storm, portions of North County and the U.S.-Mexico border saw over an inch of rain, while most of the San Diego and East County area recorded under an inch, according to National Weather Service San Diego. In comparison, the Jan. 22 storm brought an average of about 2.9 inches of rain to the region in the span of only a few hours, making it the fourth overall wettest day on record in some parts of the county.
Multiple inclement weather advisories have been issued for the region and an evacuation warning for flood-prone areas was also announced ahead of Thursday’s storm. The rainfall caused several road closures to the San Diego area as well.
Gloria is expected to discuss the plans for the city as it prepares for a new storm expected to hit the region on Monday.
