SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A domestic dispute between lovers turned violent in Ocean Beach Wednesday night, with a boyfriend and girlfriend both ending up in the hospital.
According to the San Diego Police Department, a 22-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman who were in a romantic relationship were arguing in the parking lot of the Ocean Beach Pier, located at 5000 Part Ave., around 9:30 p.m.
It was reported by authorities that the woman’s ex-boyfriend was also in the parking lot and was trying to mediate the dispute.
At some point during the altercation, the boyfriend allegedly got into his girlfriend’s car, put it in reverse and ran the woman over, SDPD explained. Shortly after he rammed the vehicle into the woman, he heard two gunshots.
At that point, police said the boyfriend drove to 2100 Bacon St. where police were notified of a shooting victim. SDPD discovered the man had a gunshot wound to the collarbone and two bullet holes were found in the car.
Police responded to both locations, and no gun was located. Both victim’s were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The shooting suspect is still on the loose. Authorities have not provided a name or description at this time. Detectives are investigating the incident.
